Ex-Ipswich council boss to stand trial

Former Ipswich City Council chief executive Jim Lindsay has been committed to stand trial on an official corruption charge for allegedly agreeing to receive a kickback.

Mr Lindsay pleaded not guilty to the single count in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday in relation to an allegation he corruptly agreed to receive money over a development application between August 2016 and September 2017.

Under cross-examination, Wayne Francis Innes said he offered Mr Lindsay $1.5 million in relation to a development in Ebenezer.

The court was told Mr Lindsay initially "brushed off" the offer and told Mr Innes they would talk about it later.

Mr Lindsay was charged in 2017 during a wide-ranging Crime and Corruption Commission investigation into the council.
