Ex-AFP top cop in court on guns charges

A former deputy commissioner of the Australian Federal Police has been charged with abusing his position and possessing a prohibited firearm.

Lawyers for Ramzi Jabbour lodged pleas of not guilty on his behalf at the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday.

His case will return to court next year.

Jabbour was stood down from the AFP in March pending a professional standards investigation.

He resigned in August, after a 30-year career in the force.
