Ewen Jones jokes about taking over

Who says politicians don't have a sense of humour?

Federal Liberal MP Ewen Jones joked about taking over the government while waiting for a class of 2010 photograph.

"We have installed a state of emergency and Malcolm Turnbull is in detention," he said, laughing.

Fellow MPs, including assistant innovation minister Wyatt Roy, looked bemused if not a little uncomfortable as Mr Jones continued outlining his "coup".

"I don't want anyone in Australia to panic," the Queensland MP said as his colleagues walked away leaving him standing alone before photographers outside Parliament House.

"Come the revolution they're the first to go."
