Escaped prisoner found hiding in kitchen cupboard in Sydney’s south

An escaped prisoner who had been on the run for months has been found hiding in a kitchen cupboard in Sydney’s south.

The 58-year-old man escaped from a correctional facility in Muswellbrook on July 24.

Guards noticed the inmate was missing during a head check, police said.

Police apprehended the man last night at a home in the Sutherland Shire after an extensive investigation.

Authorities attended the home in Blackwattle Place, Alfords Point around 7pm where they found the man hiding in a kitchen cupboard.

He was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with escape from lawful custody.
