Environment ministers discuss climate plan

State and federal environment ministers will flesh out the operation of the Abbott government's Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) when they meet in Canberra.
The National Environment Protection Council meeting on Tuesday replaces the regular meeting of environment ministers following a shake-up of COAG committees in December.
Federal minister Greg Hunt will ask his state counterparts about potential projects which could be funded under the ERF, which it is planned will cut emissions by five per cent by 2020.

The ministers will also discuss progress on "one-stop shops" for environmental regulation and other ways to cut green tape for major economic projects while ensuring environmental protection.
