Warner century brings Australia victory in opening one-dayer against England

Opener David Warner's first one-day century in two years has brought Australia a victory in the opening match of the one-day tri-series in Sydney.

The Australian side also nabbed a bonus point by reaching England's total of 234 with 10 overs to spare at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Warner's century was the highlight of the Australian innings, ably backed by Test hero Steve Smith's knock of 47.

Several wickets fell in the final overs but the result was never in doubt as the big-hitting Aussies cruised to victory.

It was Warner's first one-day century against the old enemy and his third overall.

England were dismissed in 47.5 overs, with man of the match Mitchell Starc dominating the bowling for the Australians.

Eoin Morgan top-scored for the visitors with 121.

Meanwhile, Aussie paceman Pat Cummins has offered a contender for cricket's worst delivery.

The young tearaway is believed to have been attempting a slower ball against England in the first tri-series one-dayer when the ball slipped from his fingers and was taken on the full at second slip.

It prompted chuckles from all at the SCG, joining a long list of shockers that are etched in the memory.
