NSW Police said their initial investigation suggested there were no suspicious circumstances but revealed nothing else about her cause of death.

"Officers from Newcastle Police District have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident," NSW Police said.

A Woolworths spokesperson said they were providing support to the woman's family and team members.
