Emissions scheme won't hike prices: Labor

Labor is adamant energy prices won't rise under its planned scaled-back emissions trading scheme.

The federal government has dismissed the opposition's climate change policy, warning it will lead to major electricity price hikes.

"What we know if you increase the amount of renewable energy you have ... it puts downward pressure on prices," opposition frontbencher Anthony Albanese told the Nine Network on Friday.
