Major gas leak forces evacuation in Brisbane

The site of a major gas leak in the Brisbane suburb of Wynnum has been deemed safe, police say.
Authorities arrived at Walnut Street in Wynnum shortly after 11.40am today after it was discovered a gas main had ruptured.
Those within the immediate vicinity were evacuated when an emergency situation was declared at 12.01pm.

The declaration spanned the Esplanade, Gordon Parade, Tingal Road and Edith Street and was later revoked.
