Electoral Commission sets out vote timing
AAP
Electoral officials will sort postal votes and count pre-poll Senate votes on Sunday and Monday before resuming the full count on Tuesday.
The timetable for counting had been set out well in advance and includes time for the large numbers of absent, interstate and postal votes to be sorted and sent to their home electorates for counting, the Australian Electoral Commission said in a statement on Sunday.
Commission staff and volunteers counted more than 11 million House of Representatives votes after polls closed on Saturday evening, but there are 11 seats still too close to call and neither major party has a majority in the lower house yet.
