Elderly woman missing from western Sydney overnight

Police have appealed for public help to find a 72-year-old woman missing overnight from Merrylands, in western Sydney.

Xingxian Shao was last seen leaving a relative’s home on Newman Street about 10am yesterday.

Police were called after she failed to return about 8pm, and began a search.

Investigators hold concerns for Ms Shao’s welfare because she does not speak English and has little or no money with her.

Ms Shao is described as Asian, about 155cm tall and slim with short black hair.

She was last seen wearing black pants and a grey cardigan.

Ms Shao sometimes walks from Merrylands to the Parramatta area
