Three fire crews were sent to the scene where they found the house enveloped in smoke but the blaze itself was out, a fire service spokesman told AAP.
Firefighters have conducted atmospheric tests to determine if it's safe to re-enter the building.
No other details were immediately available, and the cause of the fire isn't known.
The police and ambulance service both told AAP the dead person was believed to be an elderly woman.
