Elderly man dies in hospital after being hit by truck in Sydney
Police have warned of heavy delays in the area while they conduct their investigation. (9NEWS)
An elderly man has died in hospital after he was struck by a truck in Woolloomooloo this afternoon.
Authorities told 9news.com.au they were called to the intersection of William Street and Bourke Street in Darlinghurst around 1pm after a man was hit by a vehicle.
Paramedics transferred the man, believed to be in his 80s, to St Vincent’s Hospital, but he later died.
The driver of the truck was taken to Kings Cross Police Station for questioning.
Police said a crime scene has been established and inquiries are continuing.
Police are warning motorists of heavy delays in the area. Bus routes 324 and 325 are diverting away from the area.
