Elderly man hit by fire truck in Melbourne

An elderly pedestrian is fighting for his life after being hit by a fire truck in Melbourne.

The 77-year-old Preston man was hit by the MFB truck in Coburg on Thursday morning.

He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police are keen to speak to a female medic who stopped to help the man before police arrived.

The MFB said the circumstances have not been established yet, but the fire truck was not responding to an emergency incident.

The driver is assisting police with their inquiries.
