This mural bikini babe at the Ekka was covered up after complaints.

A mural image of a busty blonde woman in a skimpy bikini at Brisbane's Ekka showgrounds has been covered up after pressure from the Australian Christian Lobby.

The image had been featured on the Rip Tide attraction among the children's rides section, Fairfax Media reports.

An online petition to have it covered up, begun by the Christian Lobby's Wendy Francis on Saturday, attracted more than a 1000 signatures.

"If this image was in an adult workplace it would be deemed as sexual harassment and removed," she wrote on the petition.

"Our children's innocence should not be compromised by attending the Brisbane Ekka ... Sexual imagery is inappropriate here."

Royal National Agricultural chief executive Brendan Christou said officials were made aware of the image on Saturday night and had it concealed by placards overnight.

He also apologised for "any offence this image may have caused."
