Ed Sheeran announces engagement to high school sweetheart

Pop star Ed Sheeran has announced his engagement to girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, who he first met at high school.

The Grammy-winning singer posted a picture of the pair on his Instagram page yesterday, revealing they got engaged just before the New Year.

In the caption he said: “Got myself a fiancé just before the new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well.”

Last year, Sheeran said that Seaborn inspired his hit song Perfect, which is Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Sheeran and Seaborn were friends at Thomas Mills High School in Suffolk, England, and reconnected years later in 2015.

It has not been revealed how Sheeran proposed to Seaborn.
