Eastern Freeway re-opens after motorbike and truck collide

All outbound lanes of the Eastern Freeway have re-opened after a collision left a motorcyclist critical earlier this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the freeway at Blackburn Road about 2.30pm after reports of a collision between a motorbike and truck.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, suffered life-threatening head injuries and suspected arm and leg fractures.

He has been taken to The Alfred Hospital in a critical condition. The condition of the truck driver is not yet known. 

The freeway was re-opened to traffic just after 5.15pm, however delays are expected to impact drivers for some time, VicRoads said in a statement.
