Timeline of how the deadly Eastern Freeway tragedy unfolded
The horror Melbourne freeway crash which killed four police officers occurred 50 minutes after a black Porsche 911 had been pulled over for speeding and its driver drug-tested.
The tragedy is the deadliest single incident for Victoria Police officers in the state's history.

Wednesday, 4.50pm: The 41-year-old driver of a black Porsche 911 was stopped by police on the Eastern Freeway, between the Chandler Highway and Burke Road exits at Kew, for speeding after officers clocked the vehicle doing more than 140km/h.
The driver tested positive to "some type of drug" and the attending officers called for backup.
Two additional police officers from Highway Patrol attended the scene.

5.40pm: All four police officers were outside of their vehicles talking with the driver of the Porsche when they were hit from behind by a large refrigeration semi-trailer truck.
One female officer and three male officers were killed on impact.
The truck driver suffered a medical episode immediately after the crash.
The driver of the Porsche was unharmed. He allegedly took graphic photos of the scene and fled shortly after on foot.

Later that evening: Police swarmed the scene and remained at the crash site investigating.
The truck driver was taken to hospital. Officers also raided the truck driver's Cranbourne home in Melbourne's outer-east.
Victorian state coroner, Judge John Cain and coroner Darren Bracken attended the collision site to commence a coronial investigation.

Thursday: The driver of the truck remains under police guard in hospital, where investigators will aim to speak to him today.
Police arrested the driver of the Porsche in Collingwood this morning. He was questioned by detectives.
The driver is currently on bail on unlawful assault and theft charges and was due before Collingwood Neighbourhood Justice Centre later this month.
Investigations continue at the crash site today.
