Earthquake hits south of Melbourne

A small earthquake has rattled Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.
The magnitude 2.8 quake struck just after 12.25pm about 70km southeast of Melbourne.

Geoscience Australia said the epicentre was in the Balnarring and Merricks area.
Mount Eliza resident Ashli Beards told the Herald Sun the quake made her house shake.
Other residents told the newspaper they heard what sounded like thunder
There have been no reports of damage.
