Dutton to 'drive stake' through drug trade

Peter Dutton has enlisted the help of state police ministers as he tries to "drive a stake" through the heart of organised crime gangs bringing illicit drugs into Australia.

The home affairs minister has launched a new, national plan to target the supply of illicit drugs, which will primarily focus on methylamphetamine and ice.

"Through this plan, the home affairs portfolio will work with state counterparts at all levels, our international partners, the private sector and the community to thwart a common, abhorrent enemy who unashamedly profits from the misery of others," Mr Dutton said on Wednesday.
