Immigration Minister Peter Dutton is "more than open" to sharing the power of stripping citizenship from dual citizens involved in terrorism with other ministers.

The federal government is drafting legislation to remove citizenship from dual nationals deemed to have joined or be supporting terrorist groups like Islamic State and says appropriate safeguards will be implemented.

"People have been critical of the decision resting with one minister - I'm more than open to have involvement from the attorney-general or others in the decision-making process," Mr Dutton told Sky News on Thursday.
