‘Drunk driver’ plunges car into lake to avoid police

A suspect drunk driver has plunged his vehicle into a lake to avoid police.

Dashcam video shared by Fox4News shows the suspect’s silver car speed off as officers approached him Friday (local time), in the US state of Illinois.

A short chase ensues, before the driver turns and without hesitation speeds towards Lake Arlington and plunges into the water.

The suspect then appears to escape from the car window, and can be seen wading in the shallows.

Officers then reportedly apprehended the man, who is now facing charges for drugs, driving while intoxicated and evading arrest.
