Alleged drink-driving dad apologises after Sydney school pick-up crash and 0.198 alcohol test
The embarrassment was written all over Neeraj Shukla's face as he watched his car being towed from the shops, where he allegedly drunkenly reversed into another vehicle during after school pick up.
It was 3.15pm yesterday and he was there to collect two students from Marayong Public at Blacktown in Sydney’s west.
The six and nine-year-old’s were in the backseat when the crash happened.

Witness Leang Klauth told 9News the children were very distressed.
“They were crying, it was very sad to see,” she said.
Other parents told police they could smell booze on the P-Plater’s breath.
When officers tested the 37-year-old driver, he allegedly returned a blood alcohol level of 0.198.

The reading has left senior police shaking their heads.
“Anyone on a provisional license has a mandatory limit of zero. Someone in this situation, at 0.198, well and truly over that limit, putting himself and everyone else at great risk,” said Chief Inspector Phil Brooks from the NSW Police Traffic and Highway Patrol Command.
Neeraj Shukla said he is remorseful and ashamed.
He apologised, admitting he’d been drinking and should never have got behind the wheel.
“I made a mistake… it was a bad day,” the father said.
Neeraj Shukla will now have to rely on others to get around.
His license has been suspended and he will face Blacktown Local Court next week.
