Dreyfus denies politicising siege

Labor has no regrets about questioning the federal government over correspondence Attorney General George Brandis received from Sydney siege gunman Man Haron Monis, two months before he stormed the Lindt cafe.

Opposition legal affairs spokesman Mark Dreyfus has denied politicising the tragedy by asking questions about the letter, which asked if it was legal to contact Islamic State leader Caliph Ibrahim aka Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

"I think there were good grounds for raising it," Mr Dreyfus told ABC TV, adding the opposition was entitled to ask questions about national security.
