Draft laws to establish $4b emergency fund

A proposed $4 billion natural disaster and emergency response fund has made its way to federal parliament.
Emergency Management Minister David Littleproud said $150 million would be available each year to support communities facing a significant or catastrophic event.
"The type of assistance provided could include, but is not limited to, additional recovery grants and support to affected communities or industry sectors to help their recovery and build their resilience to future natural disasters," Mr Littleproud said as he introduced the legislation on Wednesday.
