Garlic bread recalled after plastic found in margarine

Garlic bread sold at stores including Domino’s and Pizza Hut has been recalled after plastic was found in margarine used to make the product.

Two small pieces of plastic material, measuring 9mm, were found inside the margarine blender used for garlic bread on Wednesday, maker George Weston Foods (GWF) said in an official statement.

GWF supplies garlic bread to Domino’s, Woolworths, and Pizza Hut.

The company said the source of “foreign material contamination” at the manufacturer in Queensland had been “identified”.

“GWF has immediately suspended production and the contaminated batch has been traced,” the statement said.

Domino’s “Traditional Garlic Bread” has been removed from the menu and “will be replaced by new Cheesier Garlic Bread” until further notice, the outlet said.

Other companies affected by the recall are yet to issue a statement.
