Dogs adorably perplexed by magic

A Finnish magician has proven dogs can be adorably as baffled by magic tricks as humans in a fascinating video that has gone viral.

Jose Ahonen, a "magician and mind reader" from Tampere in Finland, decided to test whether dogs would react to magic by playing a sleight of hand trick on some unsuspecting canines.

The results are hilarious and a little unexpected.

Ahonen begins by showing the dog a treat before making it disappear from his hands in front of the animal's face.

Confused and struggling to comprehend what has happened, the dogs sniff feverishly around the magician's empty palms, some desperately looking puppy-eyed at Ahonen for answers before almost all jump to their feet and search furiously underneath themselves.

The humourous video has already been watched almost 3.5 million times online.

On his Facebook page, Ahonen has rebranded himself "magician, mentalist, now disliked by dogs of all shapes and sizes". But while the dogs may never completely understand the trick that has been played on them, Ahonen reassures that they all walk away winners.

"By the way, all the dogs got treats before and after the trick," he said.
