One of the owners of a dog so severely neglected it had to be euthanised, after being seized by the RSPCA, has been given a suspended sentence.

Casey Goldner, 22, walked free from court with a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to the chronic neglect of her dog, Butch.

The four-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross was severely emaciated when it was seized by the RSPCA, in July last year.

The dog was in such poor condition that it had to be euthanised.

Goldner was given a two-month and 24-day jail sentence but that was suspended with the judge imposing a two-year good behaviour bond.

Her mother has also pleaded guilty but her case was adjourned until next month.
