Woman could need both arms amputated after Darwin dog attack

A woman may need both her arms amputated after dog attack in Darwin at the weekend.

The 50-year-old was found in Driver, a suburb of Palmerston, with "significant injuries to both arms" after being mauled by a dog just before 1.50am on Sunday.

She was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital as a "priority one" patient with an intensive care paramedic on board, St John Ambulance Northern Territory told 9News.com.au.

"We understand that the lady has undergone surgery and is in a critical condition."

Northern Territory Police have been contacted for comment.
