Sydney mum banned from driving after high-speed police chase

A woman who led police on a high-speed pursuit with her three-year-old son strapped into the back seat has been banned from driving for three years.

Sally Arabi extended her middle finger at onlookers outside Bankstown Magistrates Court on Thursday before she was sentenced to 200 hours of community service for reckless driving.

The 23-year-old was unlicensed when she fled a random breath test and reached speeds of 150km/h as she tried to evade police along the Hume Highway on June 22.

The court heard the disqualified driver ran three red lights during the eight-minute chase, even forcing other motorists to swerve off the road when she drove into oncoming traffic.

She had previously had her licence suspended on three occasions and was currently serving a 12-month disqualification.

Arabi will not be able to legally get behind the wheel until 2020.
