Tasmanian man charged over abduction, rape of 12-year-old girl

A Devonport man has been arrested and charged in relation to the abduction and rape of a 12-year-old Latrobe girl in 2014.

The 39-year-old from north-west Tasmania faces a raft of charges, including forcible abduction and three counts of rape.

Police said the arrest came following a search of a Devonport home today.

The alleged rapist fronted Devonport Magistrates Court this evening and was granted bail.

He is expected to face court again at a later date.
