Devastated dad can't attend daughter's funeral due to SA lockdown

The father of a woman who died on the Gold Coast won't be able to attend her funeral due to South Australia's coronavirus outbreak.

Mother-of-six Mariah Huthmann Grace fell from a Surfers Paradise balcony on Tuesday.

Police are not treating her death as suspicious.

Mariah's father John Grace is from South Australia revealed his heartbreak after learning he would not be able to attend her funeral as the Queensland border is closed.

"If it doesn't rain, it pours. I'm in total lockdown in Adelaide for six days or more. And if I go to Queensland, then I'm in two weeks lockdown at my own expense of $3000," he wrote.

"So I will miss my daughter's tangi....shattered again...what next?"

Queensland closed its borders to South Australia following a new outbreak of coronavirus in Adelaide, reimposing a "hotspot" status.

9News has contacted Mr Grace about his intentions to apply for a border exemption for the funeral service.

All South Australians are required to undergo and pay for 14 days of hotel quarantine upon entering the state.
