Dentist body pulls raunchy promo

The Australian Dental Association has had to pull down a raunchy video that it had used to promote an upcoming national congress in Brisbane.

The profession's peak body had posted the footage, featuring a striptease act and women in lingerie, to its social media accounts and an affiliated website.

But the association's chief executive, Robert Boyd-Boland, removed it yesterday after drawing complaints via email and Twitter for being "sexist" and "inappropriate", the Courier-Mail reports.

"It's inappropriate in the 21st century given the make-up (and) the diversity of people within the Australian Dental Association," University of Queensland Professor Jenny Martin was quoted as saying.

Dr Boyd-Boland conceded the video sent "an inappropriate signal about the event" and he would be investigating who within the ADA was responsible for posting it.

The footage reportedly was filmed during a "Dentist Late Night" event at last year's congress in Melbourne.
