Delivery driver caught smashing into customer's garage
An A Current Affair investigation has exposed Australia’s cowboy delivery drivers who have been caught damaging parcels and property and leaving families out of pocket.
In one incident, Sydney resident Stanley Tee’s security cameras captured a delivery driver smashing into his garage in September.
The driver then handed Mr Tee his parcel as if nothing had happened and took off.
For more than two months Mr Tee had been going back and forth between Australia Post and its contractor as the pair argued over who was to blame for the incident.
“Australia Post told me that it was outsourced to its subcontractors so it’s not their responsibility," Mr Tee said.
Australia Post only agreed to pay Mr Tee for the damage after he went to A Current Affair.
Since then, the delivery driver responsible has also been suspended.
“At the end of the day, I’m a customer," Mr Tee said.
"I use Australia Post regularly, they deliver a good service but when issues like this happen they need to take action and resolve it in the background with their contractors."
NSW Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation Matt Kean is urging people to check the Fair Trading website to find out what sort of experience other customers have had with the delivery company in question.
If that fails, he suggests calling Fair Trading directly.
