Man charged over shooting murder in Queensland front yard

Detectives have charged a man over the shooting murder of Clinton Pollock in the front yard of his Queensland home.

The 26-year-old was will appear in Redcliffe court today on one count of murder and failure to appear in accordance with undertaking.

However, it is understood police are hunting for more suspects following the shooting in Deception Bay, north of Brisbane, at 11.30pm Sunday night.

It is believed 37-year-old Pollock was shot in the chest during an argument with a group of men in the front yard of his home.

"The male resident of the house has received a gunshot wound to the sternum and died at the scene. The men fled the scene in a vehicle," police said.

His sister tried to perform CPR on the man at the scene.

Paramedics tended to Mr Pollock afterwards, however he did not survive.

Homicide detectives are still appealing for any witnesses or anyone who might have dashcam or security footage of the crime to come forward.

Police have since set up a major incident room as they continue investigations.

"We just heard lots of bangs, the car drove off and the lady screamed - her brother was shot," one local told 9NEWS.

"We'll be moving," another said.

"As soon as the lease is up, we're done."
