'Dear people please buy dairy farmers milk': Young girl appeals for help

A young Queensland girl has pitched in to try to help Australia's struggling dairy farmers, by penning a letter appealing for support.

Evie Sanderson, an eight-year-old from Albany Hills State School, told the Pine Rivers Press she "nearly cried" when she watched a news bulletin about the farmers' plight.

Her letter features an appeal to emotion and a drawing of a dairy cow.

"Dear people please buy dairy farmers milk to help farmers they work all day hard," Evie wrote.

"Hard work. How would you feel if you were a farmer and worked all day and got no money, not much at all."

She decided to take action after realising a lack of money meant farmers could not afford basic necessities.

“If we didn't have any money, we wouldn't get a house, or food, or water, or toys — or important things, like iPods,” Evie said.

"Even if the milk cost $10 to buy, I would want to give the farmer $10."

Evie's appeal is the latest in a series calling for Australians to support local and independent dairy brands. 

In May, social media users shared images of shopping centres sold out of local products after shoppers embraced the call to action.
