Deadly mushroom warning for Victoria

Melburnians are being warned against foraging for mushrooms after heavy rain spawned an influx of deadly death cap and yellow-staining fungi.

Victoria's Chief health Officer said the deadly mushrooms have been found "in and around Melbourne" and if people are in doubt about what they are picking, they shouldn't eat wild mushrooms.

Death Cap mushrooms are highly poisonous and consuming just one mushroom can kill an adult, while yellow-staining mushrooms will cause nausea, stomach cramps, diarrhoea and vomiting.
