'Dead cat' found at grave of Adelaide property tycoon Con Polites

A dead animal wrapped in a towel has been found at the burial plot of one of South Australia's wealthiest men, Con Polites.

Police discovered the dead cat in a pet carrier during their excavation of the plot yesterday, The Advertiser reported.

A package containing an animal liver, candle and note was also reportedly left at his son George's home yesterday.

Mr Polites died in 2001, after amassing a large real estate portfolio.

George then took over the Polites Group, and his home was shot at in 2011.

Polites Group lawyer Dimitrios Georgiadis said the recent events were "disturbing".

"There's been some disturbing events that have concerned the Polites family and the Polites Group, and the police have been contacted," he said.

"It's presently under investigation, and because of that reason the Polites Group can't comment any further."
