WHERE THE LEADERS ARE CAMPAIGNING:

* Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull: Two marginal LNP electorates in Queensland: Brisbane (4.3pc) and Petrie (0.5pc).

* Labor leader Bill Shorten: The bellwether NSW electorate of Eden-Monaro before addressing the National Press Club in Canberra.

WHAT THE COALITION WANTS TO TALK ABOUT:

* A vote for us is a vote for stability; a vote for the other mobs is a vote for chaos.

* Its election costings and a slight improvement in the budget bottom line.

WHAT LABOR WANTS TO TALK ABOUT:

* Its costings create a structural budget surplus.

* We'll save Medicare from the coalition.

WHAT IS MAKING NEWS:

* Taxes as a share of the economy would rise under Labor.

* 10,000 yellow-clad CFA volunteers will be at polling stations on election day.

* The number of apprentices in marginal seats has dropped during the term of the coalition government.

* Former independent MP Tony Windsor calls in the lawyers over allegations he was a student bully.

* Turnbull says the coalition would have lost the election resoundingly if Tony Abbott had still been prime minister.
