WHERE THE LEADERS CAMPAIGNED:

* Prime Minister Scott Morrison: Geelong (Corangamite, Liberal-held but notionally Labor 0.03 per cent), Wangaratta (Indi, Independent 5.5 per cent) and Sydney (Labor 15.3 per cent).

* Labor leader Bill Shorten: Perth (Pearce, Lib 3.6 per cent).

WHAT THE COALITION WANTED TO TALK ABOUT:

Helping first home-buyers and infrastructure investment, but definitely not Morrison's beliefs towards same-sex marriage.

WHAT LABOR WANTED TO TALK ABOUT:

Its plan to make it easier for workers to have wage theft claims dealt with.

WHAT MADE NEWS:

* Treasurer Josh Frydenberg confirms the coalition will release its updated costings on Thursday, two days out from the election.

* About three million Australians had voted early by close of business on Tuesday, compared to 1.6 million at the same point in the 2016 election.

* Psychic Darwin-based croc 'Burt' picks Shorten as the election winner.
