WHERE THE LEADERS CAMPAIGNED:

* Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull: South-western Sydney to announce $50 million in infrastructure funding to fast-track the release of 35,000 new homes in the region. Second visit in a week to the marginal Liberal seat of Macarthur.

* Labor leader Bill Shorten: NSW central coast to announce an end to a freeze on indexed Medicare rebates. In the marginal seats of Dobell and Paterson, both notionally Labor after boundary changes.

* Both leaders take part in the Go West dinner.

* Its jobs and growth plan for the economy.

* Funding infrastructure to increase housing availability.

* Putting people first by increasing funding for Medicare.

* Shorten comforted a woman and her child after a car trying to overtake his campaign entourage crashed into an oncoming car near Maitland in the NSW Hunter Valley.

* The jobless rate in April remained steady at 5.7 per cent.

* Immigration Minister Peter Dutton tones down slightly his comments about resettling refugees as independent MP Andrew Wilkie calls for his head.

* Labor's pledge to undo the coalition's six-year freeze on indexed increases to the Medicare rebate.

* Labor frontbencher David Feeney admits claiming an overnight travel allowance while using a property in Canberra owned by his wife's family trust, adding to his woes over failing to declare a negatively geared $2.3 million property.

* The Liberal Democratic Party is urging a protest vote against the coalition's changes to superannuation tax concessions.
