'Diversity' the look for next top DJ's models

Dozens of model hopefuls have strutted their stuff for a chance to walk in the David Jones fashion show.

Supermodel Jessica Gomes spearheaded the panel at the casting for the 2018 Spring Summer Collections Launch in Melbourne this morning.

More than 150 upcoming young men and women walked in front of the store’s celebrity ambassador, who said she was on the lookout for a "diverse" range of fresh faces.

"A model who has a great walk is also really important," Gomes said, adding that landing a David Jones campaign is "transformational" for a model's career.

Buying Manager for David Jones' womenswear department Teneille Oakley said she was on the look for models with a "strong, healthy aesthetic".

“Diversity is also really important… it’s something David Jones is really proud of representing in our runways and campaigns."

Fellow panellist and the department store’s newly announced Emerging Designer, Lyn-Al Young, said she was thrilled her colourful scarves will be featured in the Sydney show on August 8.

"It will be so amazing to see my designs alongside David Jones’ other designers."
