Hells Angels bikie Phillip O'Shea escapes jail time over police assault

A high-ranking Darwin bikie has escaped jail time following a violent confrontation with police in October last year.

Hells Angels enforcer Phillip O'Shea was today handed a six month suspended sentence for resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and possessing methamphetamine.

Dramatic bodycam footage shows the 44-year-old locked in a struggle with three heavily-armed officers during a drug raid in his parents' home.

O'Shea was punched in the face, tasered twice and capsicum sprayed, before being led out in handcuffs.

During their search, police found a bumbag containing 11 grams of methamphetamine in the bikie's bedroom.

His lawyer claimed detectives planted the stash to justify their brutality, which Judge Tanya Fong Lim rejected.

She found officers were acting within their duty while dealing with a "very large, strong angry man" who is known for carrying concealed weapons.

Given he's already spent a month behind bars, Judge Fong Lim suspended the remainder of his sentence.

O'Shea maintains his innocence and is suing police for mistreatment.
