Darwin drivers' lackadaisical approach to the rules of the road

The casual approach to road rules in the Northern Territory has again been recorded by one frustrated driver who has witnessed his fair share of near misses.

Darwin man George Fisher's dashcam has captured some daring drivers flagrantly disregarding the rules of the road by cutting across him in intersections and crossing onto the wrong side of the road, NT News reports.

In one clip Mr Fisher recorded a car as it pulls out and cuts right in front of him as he drives through a busy intersection.

Mr Fisher is forced to slam on his brakes to avoid T-boning the Mitsubishi Lancer.

In another clip the Darwinian waits in banked up traffic in an industrial area while a forklift unloads a truck.

Then one brazen blue Ford Falcon driver who cannot be asked waiting with the rest of the Territorians decides to pull onto the other side of the road and go for it.

Oncoming traffic lazily moves to the side of the road and lets the car through as though it is something they contend with all the time.

Last week a Darwin driver was charged with high-range drink driving after he was filmed driving at speed on the wrong side of Dick Ward Drive.
