Channel 9 news boss Darren Wick has been sentenced to a nine-month intensive correction order and 100 hours of community service after pleading guilty to high range drink driving.

Wick was pulled over outside the Nine network's old headquarters in Willoughby, in north Sydney, last October and recorded a blood alcohol reading more than four times the legal limit.

Speaking outside Hornsby Local Court today he said the police officers that stopped him that night saved his life.

"What I've done here is clearly the wrong thing and I would really strongly recommend anyone else to learn from what I've done and not do the same thing again."

Wick also said he had been working hard on his issues with alcohol.
