Daniel Andrews will overtake all but Henry Bolte and could become Victoria's second longest-serving Premier if he wins a third state election.

Victorians are now less than a year from casting their vote and can expect a campaign like no other in the wake of COVID-19.

Mr Andrews could not rule out future lockdowns or vaccine mandates for children in this one-on-one interview, championing his government's 50th level crossing removal as testament to "getting things done".

The Premier also declared major projects the "legacy" he is interested in, not statues, while brushing off blow-outs now worth billions saying "there's a greater cost in not building these things".
