A cyclone warning has been issued for parts of Western Australia’s coast, from Roebourne to Ningaloo.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns the area, including Karratha and Exmouth, is expected to be hit with damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

The tropical low is expected to bring winds of up to 85 km/h with wind gusts of up to 120 km/h.

The system is moving west southwest but is expected to move away from the mainland this evening.

The bureau said the system should strengthen and may reach tropical cyclone intensity this afternoon.
