Cyber security expert warns hackers can access your devices without a scam link

Australians have been warned that hackers can access their devices without requiring them to click on a link.

Hackers have developed more sophisticated ways of accessing consumer devices such as TVs, computers, phones and smartwatches.

Speaking to 2GB this morning, cyber security expert Robert Potter said hackers were primarily targeting large businesses.

"There are a lot of zero click-through attacks that we are seeing," he said.

"A lot of that is around large vulnerabilities. Big business is where they are primarily aiming."

Mr Potter said the majority of attacks involved "email in some variety".

He advised people to enable multi-factor authentication in order to help prevent cyber attacks.

"Keeping your systems up to date is really important and having multi-factor authentication."
