Two dogs repeatedly caught ‘cuddling’ at a US animal shelter have found a new home together after an online appeal went viral.

The inseparable pair were recently featured in a Facebook post by the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, with a photo showing the smaller “CC" resting on a reclining “Chewbacca".

“Meet our resident odd couple! Chewbacca and little CC are pretty much always cuddling when we walk by their kennel – and that usually means CC is somehow draped over Chewy,” the caption read.

“Their bond is undeniable, so they must be adopted together.”

The post drew hundreds of reactions and shares as well as scores of photos by dog owners of their pets demonstrating similar behaviours.

Three days later, on October 7, the shelter announced both dogs had been adopted.

They are now living with “two other dogs and three pet pigs”, the shelter said.
