Onlookers have been filmed cheering a group of drunken brawlers after an intense fight broke out on the streets of Surfers Paradise last weekend.

The footage was taken outside the Club Liv nightclub in the early hours of Saturday, March 15.

The group of men are seen pouring out of the club mid-fight to continue their brawl on the footpath.

Onlookers can be heard cheering on the fight, which eventually ended with three of the men tumbling into a water fountain.

A 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were arrested and charged with public nuisance offences while a 21-year-old man was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

One of the men also suffered a minor head injury and had to be taken to hospital for observation.

After watching the video, Acting Chief Superintendent Des Lacy condemned not only the men involved in the brawl but also the onlookers for not stepping in.

"Every punch thrown could be fatal. Wouldn't it be good if we saw the friends of these thugs intervene to break up fights or even prevent them," Supt. Lacy said.
